Geospherics Completes Soil Sampling on USDA Project

Geospherics is partnering with Fischer Farms Natural Foods and Indiana University on a USDA-sponsored project to explore pathways for producing carbon neutral/negative beef. A key component to reducing the carbon footprint of beef is implementing land management practices that enhance soil carbon sequestration while providing the necessary feed and forage for cattle herds. Thanks to support from colleagues at the USDA-NRCS we’ve been able to collect over 300 samples across 5 farms in two states. These deep soil cores (4-foot depth) are being analyzed at multiple laboratories across the US to provide new insight on how croplands and pastures can be managed to optimize long-term carbon storage in agricultural systems.
